In fiscal year 2014, Crisis Nursery was awarded funds through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to help complete our building expansion. DCEO is the lead state agency responsible for improving Illinois' competitiveness in the global economy and leads the Illinois economic development process in partnership with business, local governments, workers and families. We are so grateful for this contribution that allowed us to expand our space to serve more children and families in crisis.
Illinois State Board of Education:
ISBE provides funding for our early childhood and family education programs and services that fall under the Preschool for All: Prevention Initiative, a network of child and family service providers who promote the development of infants and children at risk of academic failure. The support provided by ISBE helps young children enter school, ready to learn. At Crisis Nursery, much of this falls under our Paving Pathways program.
Illinois Department of Human Services:
Crisis Nursery receives funding from DHS for our Safe Children and Strong Families programs. We also receive funding through DHS-ESG funds, allowing us to develop our homeless respite program and serve homeless families through our Strong Families program with access to support groups, crisis counseling, and more.
Champaign County Mental Health (708) Board:
CCMHB supports our Beyond Blue program at the Nursery. This funding allows us to serve mothers who have or are at risk of developing perinatal depression. This program addresses risk factors that otherwise may lead to serious emotional disturbances and multiagency/system involvement in children.
Department of Children & Family Services:
DCFS provides funding to the Nursery from both a federal and state level. These funds support our Safe Children program, allowing us to continue to provide 24-hour care to children and families experiencing crisis.
City of Urbana/Cunningham Township:
Crisis Nursery receives Consolidated Social Service Funding from Cunningham Township to support our Safe Children program.
Cultural Cares Kids First Foundation:
In January 2020, Crisis Nursery was a recipient of the "Fund Their Future" grant through Cultural Care Kids First Foundation. We were able to add artwork and sensory toys/activities to the Nursery to create a more inviting space for children in our care. Artwork, new toys for practicing motor skills, and sensory development tools all do a part in bringing joy to little faces.
We are absolutely honored to have received this grant and know that the items we were able to add to our space will continue to spark joy for years to come.
