Steps to Become a Volunteer
Submit a volunteer application.
Complete required paperwork. After submitting your application, you will receive an email with more information about volunteering and paperwork that needs to be completed before scheduling an orientation. Contact Jill Duden, Volunteer Coordinator, at 217-337-2731 or firstname.lastname@example.org, with any questions or if you would like to discuss your volunteer interests.
Attend a Crisis Nursery orientation. At orientation you will meet with Jill to turn in your paperwork, tour the Nursery and learn more about our program, watch a volunteer training video, and complete paperwork to authorize a background check through DCFS (a requirement of all volunteers).
At orientation, you will receive directions on how to get fingerprinted free-of-charge for the background check. This must be completed before scheduling your first volunteer shift. Once fingerprinted, contact Jill to set up your volunteer shift. Fingerprint receipt must be submitted to Crisis Nursery before volunteering begins.
Turn in all paperwork within one month of your first volunteer shift (this includes a TB test, physical and references).
