STRONG FAMILIES

What is the Strong Families Program?

Crisis Nursery’s Strong Families program is open to the community as well as to families who have used our Safe Children services in the past. This program provides support and resources to families dealing with challenges such as parental stress, perinatal depression, homelessness, teen parenting, and more.
Our Beyond Blue and Paving Pathways programs fall under the Strong Families umbrella.

Staffing the Strong Families Program

Family Specialists work alongside our Director of Programming to serve families in Champaign County. Family Specialists are highly qualified individuals who, per DCFS requirements, must: be at least 25 years of age, have a Bachelor Degree in social work or related field, have coursework in child development and family systems, have a background in crisis intervention or general counseling, and have the ability to work with families in crisis.

Family Specialists

Our support groups, parent-child interaction groups, and even our virtual community group is run by Family Specialists. If you would like to speak to a Family Specialist about the services and groups we offer, please call 217.337.2730.

Interns

We are lucky to be able to work closely with the University of Illinois on internship opportunites at the Nursery. Although some interns work on the Safe Children side of our programming, many help Family Specialists run groups, create social stories, and more!
