Applied Pavement Technology, Inc. is a full-service pavement engineering consulting firm, which was founded in 1994. The company’s headquarters are located in Urbana with offices in Sherwood, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin. The firm has been making contributions to the Nursery for over a decade by sponsoring several events, donating basket items for the annual auction and providing wish list items as needed. Applied Pavement has sponsored the Annual Dinner and Auction yearly since 2012. Executive Vice President, Kathryn Zimmerman, is a former Crisis Nursery board member and stays actively engaged in our mission. Several of the company's employees donate to the annual fund and participate in events yearly.
Busey Bank was founded in 1868, and the headquarters are located in Champaign. Services are offered in Illinois, Missouri, Florida and Indiana. The bank has been contributing to various Nursery events since 1994 and has been a sponsor of our Dinner and Auction for over 20 years. They provide volunteers for events and have a few employees who volunteer with the kiddos! Busey hosts a ‘Dress Down to Stand Up for Kids’ day where employees wear casual clothing in exchange for a donation to the Nursery. Kevan Melchiorre, Managing Director of Busey Wealth Management, serves on our board.
The bank promises to provide monetary contributions and guidance, energetic and committed volunteers, and leaders who advocate for business and sustainability practices within the community.

Heartland Bank and Trust’s roots are in the heartland with the Drake family, who’ve been in banking for over 100 years. Heartland sets banking policies and philosophies to suit the needs of the community. They have contributed to Crisis Nursery since 2007 and have given generally, through campaigns like Giving Tuesday or by donating items to the Nursery. Heartland employees volunteered at Day of Giving last December. We would like to welcome and thank Heartland Bank and Trust for becoming a new annual sponsor for the 2020 fiscal year!
Hickory Point Bank was founded in 1979, with locations throughout Central Illinois including Champaign. The employees are local people who serve local people—the best way they can!

Hickory Point has been a consistent sponsor of the Crisis Nursery Annual Dinner and Auction throughout the past decade, with contributions dating back to 2013. The company gives through charitable donations and volunteer efforts to improve opportunities for people in the community. Hickory Point Bank is a contributor to United Way, and company employees are dedicated volunteers in support of Habitat for Humanity.
Illinois American Water delivers clean, safe, reliable and affordable water and wastewater services to about 1.3 million people in Illinois. The company strictly follows regulations set by local authorities as well as federal standards set by the United States Environmental Protection Agency. The company has been giving to the Nursery for 15 years and has been sponsoring the Dinner and Auction since 2007. Employees engage in our mission by serving on the Special Events Committee. The company established their annual Environmental Grant Program in 2005, which offers funding for innovative, community-based environmental projects to improve, restore or protect watersheds, surface water and groundwater supplies in local communities. Since 2009, Illinois American Water has given more than $222,000 in grants that contributed to 66 projects.
Martin Hood LLC is a full-service accounting firm that serves local businesses across the board— from agribusiness to construction to real estate. The firm has been supporting the Nursery for over 20 years and has been sponsoring the Dinner and Auction since 2003. Several Martin Hood employees give back and support Nursery events. Founding partner, Kim Martin, and partner, Denise Martin, made a capital campaign gift to help the Nursery expand, so we’re able to serve more children in crisis.

Minuteman Press offers print-related products and services from business cards to signage. The business was started in 2000 and offers a variety of printed goods, logo designs, binding and more. Minuteman has been contributing to the Nursery for nearly a decade through in-kind printed items. They print our business cards, holiday cards and so much more. The 27th Annual Dinner and Auction will be the tenth auction the company has sponsored. Owner Paul Conforti joined the “You print one, we’ll plant one,” project last year. Minuteman partnered with PrintReleaf, which will measure paper usage and plant as many trees used.
OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center is a non-profit Catholic hospital, part of the SF Health Care System. The hospital is formerly known as Provena Covenant Medical Center, which was founded in 1894. The original founding sponsors of the hospital felt their mission and that of Crisis Nursery matched. The Sisters took on a benefactor relationship to the Nursery in 1992 when Burnham City Hospital (the original site for the Nursery) closed.
From that point forward, OSF volunteered and donated in ways unimaginable—employees have dedicated countless hours volunteering, the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary donated $20,000 to build a larger facility when the Nursery outgrew the Park Street facility and the hospital has donated in-kind support including utility expenses, lawn care fees, snow removal, general maintenance, meal preparation and delivery, laundry service, medical care and SO MUCH MORE! The hospital has contributed monetary donations and services worth nearly $1 million since 1999. Robyn Lindenmeyer, Director of Women and Children’s Health, is on the Crisis Nursery board.
Sterling Wealth Management, located in Champaign, is a comprehensive wealth management firm that uses a consultative approach to financial and investment planning. It was founded in 2004 by couple and business partners, Martin and Sharon Allen. The firm has been giving back to Crisis Nursery for nearly 15 years, showing support by sponsoring events and through general donations. The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce named Sharon the recipient of the 2020 Athena Award due to her investing time in women’s initiatives in the community, volunteering in the C-U area and mentoring young professionals in the financial field. 2020 will be Sterling’s second year sponsoring the auction, and we are thankful and excited to have their support!
Stevie Jay Broadcasting consists of four radio stations reaching Champaign, Urbana, Rantoul and the East Central Illinois area. Stevie Jay Khachaturian, who has been a top radio personality in the Champaign-Urbana area for the past 40 years, co-owns the company with his brother Jon. Stevie Jay broadcasts live from their location near the Pines Shopping Center in Urbana. Over the past decade, the broadcasting company has made it possible for the Nursery to spread our mission and advertise our events over the airwaves. Additionally, 2020 will be the tenth Dinner and Auction Stevie Jay Broadcasting has sponsored.
Two Men and a Truck is a professional moving service dedicated to exceeding their customers’ expectations. The movers offer local and long-distance moving, packing, loading and unloading services to name a few. The moving company has been contributing to the Nursery for the past decade through sponsorships and general donations. They have sponsored the Nursery’s Dinner and Auction for the past seven years. For each event the Nursery hosts, Two Men and a Truck help us move all of our supplies and items—which saves a ton of time! The company is locally owned and prides itself on giving back to the community.

Worden-Martin is a Savoy-based dealership with diverse Buick and GMC inventory, skilled management, trained sales staff and knowledgeable parts and service departments. The dealership has been donating to the Nursery for over 20 years, with Dinner and Auction sponsorships dating back to 1999. We thank the dealership for being a long-time supporter of the Nursery!
